Sacred Heart School Enrolment Policy

Sacred Heart School is a Catholic community school that provides an education for the children in Beagle Bay and surrounding outstations. As such, Sacred Heart School accepts all children, Catholic and non Catholic of appropriate school age –
K-10. Entry age is in line with CECWA Guidelines.

There is a fairly consistent student enrolment from Beagle Bay residents, however, due to the transient nature of some families on the Peninsula, there may be short term enrolments eg. family staying for some time before and after a funeral.

In the Secondary area, some students attend and board at schools outside of the community. However, as is often the case, students may return to Beagle Bay after a short stint away and will enrol again at Sacred Heart School upon their return. This is frequently after holiday periods. Therefore at times, the numbers in the school can increase or decrease quite dramatically.

Procedure for Application:
Parents bring their child to Administration and complete the enrolment form. They are advised of how the school is run and policies and procedures in place.
Any relevant medical information is ascertained and if necessary, structures put into place.
Any special learning needs are ascertained for school follow up.
Parents are briefed on the expectations and responsibilities of placing their child in a Catholic School. They are asked to sign a form pledging support for the Catholic teachings, celebrations and ethos of the school.
Parents are advised of school times, uniform requirements, lunch requirements and other celebrations and schemes in the school such as assemblies, masses and Home Reading Scheme.
A Parent Handbook and a copy of the How To Deal With A Dispute or Complaint In A Catholic School leaflet is given to the parent.
Administration then takes the student and parent to meet the class teacher and other students.

There are no formal interviews for parents and students unless deemed necessary. Secondary students returning from Boarding Schools and their parents may be asked for an interview before re-enrolling

Fee Structure:
Fees are not paid by families at Sacred Heart School. The School receives Abstudy payments from Secondary age students. Parents are asked to contribute to the cost of excursions when they take place.
